Here we have one of our customers who was suffering from a severe lack of a good consistent Internet option, BT were offering about 5mbs of speed at tops, there was no Virgin broadband and with the property being in a remote area of Liverpool nothing reliable for the mobile networks. Customer had heard about Starlink and ordered it and rang us to install the system, we fitted the Starlink dish up on a chimney to avoid trees using a heavy duty cradle and alloy mast to ensure longevity, the cable was routed into the porch area where the old BT copper was installed. We then installed an Ethernet adapter and connected to the house network.

HOW STARLINK WORKS

Most satellite internet services come from single geostationary satellites that orbit the planet at 35,786 km. As a result, the round trip data time between the user and satellite—also known as latency—is high, making it nearly impossible to support streaming, online gaming, video calls or other high data rate activities.

Starlink is a constellation of thousands of satellites that orbit the planet much closer to Earth, at about 550km, and cover the entire globe. Because Starlink satellites are in a low orbit, latency is significantly lower—around 25 ms vs 600+ ms.
